About the CSA Food Bank
In an effort to combat hunger and poverty on campus and in the greater Guelph community, the CSA Food Bank provides Graduate and Undergraduate members of the University community access to emergency food, anti-poverty resources, and referrals to other food security and anti-poverty groups.
This volunteer driven service, started and funded by students, began in the fall of 2004. Since then we have seen the scope of our work increase dramatically as the real and often hidden issues of hunger and impoverishment become more evident. We have helped hundreds of people in need, and held a series of events that focused on raising awareness about and resistance to poverty and hunger in our communities. With more than 1200 students accessing emergency food services in the Guelph community, the need for the CSA Food Bank could not be greater
In addition to food, the CSA Food Bank also offers a Special Diet Fund and Compassionate Fund. The Special Diet Fund is for students with dietary needs that we cannot meet with the items we carry. This fund provides funds ranging between $10-$20 every two weeks, to supplement the food that we can provide. The Compassionate Fund is accessible once a year, and is $50 or more, to help with costs such as rent. We can also help connect people to community resources that can help them meet those needs. The Stuff Swap
